Spriting is the act of making 'sprites' or images made up of small colored squares called pixels. To sprite, one can edit a sprite, combine two sprites, make a sprite by scratch, or build upon the base of a sprite. Splicing is the act of mixing two sprites together. Sometimes splicing is easy, sometimes not. In order to make a good sprite, one needs to realize, sprites need to look like they would appear in a game, and not just look like a person colored over a drawing. Here are examples of what is, and isnt a sprite. As you can see, the sprite is sharp and fine, while the other is fuzzy. One VERY IMPORTANT NOTE Is that YOU MUST NEVER SAVE IN .JPG FORMAT!!!
